In the 21st century, it’s rare for someone to stay with a single company indefinitely (unless it’s a family business). Consequently, salary negotiation and disclosure have become commonplace during the job-seeking process. Today, I would like to talk about salary disclosure.
While we are being interviewed by HR, the ubiquitous questions would be “what is your expected salary?” Some people prefer not to disclose, because they have not thorougly considered it or feel it’s premature to discuss at this stage. However, sharing your salary expectation can save both parties time. If you have an expectation alreay, it assists the recruiter in determining whether to proceed with your application. Typically, if you are invited to subsequent interviews, your expectation potentially aligns with the salary range being offered.
Of course, some unprofessional HR will neglect the fact that your expectation is higher than the salary range and invite you to the next interview, that’s another story.
However, no one wants to put in so much effort and attend numerous interviews, only to find out the offer is lower than expected. Therefore, kindly share your expectations with recruiters, it will save your time and allow you to focus on the right companies.
That’s all for today!
