Reference Check – 3
Hi all, today I will share my personal experience regarding reference check.
Engineering company (Company B):
Before joining Company B, HR (also my hiring manager) conducted a reference check. Since I was working overseas at Company A, they contacted my boss to verify my work experience and performance. Conducting a reference check while I was still employed at Company A was not a standard practice. However, I had decided to return home due to family reasons, and my boss was fully aware of and supportive of my decision. Consequently, he assisted me in completing the reference check.
IT Company (Company C):
My second reference check experience was quite similar. In addition to the reference check call, there was also a questionnaire that needed to be filled out by my former manager. Since my former manager wasn’t proficient in Chinese, she requested that the questionnaire be completed in English. It’s important to note that the questionnaire was to remain completely confidential and not to be shared with me.
From my previous experiences, it’s evident that my relationship with my former managers wasn’t adversarial. As a candidate, you may encounter several reference checks throughout your career. Therefore, maintaining good relationships with your managers can be beneficial as they may support you when needed.
That’s all for today~
