Today, I wanna share Leadership, which was not originally planned for this week. The reason why I would like to discuss it is because my boss really pissed me off.

Although it’s not directly related to me, when I heard the story from my colleague, I think what my boss has done could be improved in certain ways. Here is the story, my boss bad-mouthed a junior colleague in front of our new joiner. Actually, both of them are very very young with limited working experience. I dont think bad-mouthing someone could help solve the problem. Also, my boss critized the junior colleague harshly and told her that her probation had been extended in front of our new joiner. Come on, that definitely has hard feeling and it’s pretty hard to manage the emotions. If my colleague doesnt know how to manage it properly, it will ruin the career. Therefore, when I heard this story from our new joiner, my first thought was that it was crazy and irresponsible, I dont think our junior colleague can handle it without proper help.

When we talk about a leader. it’s not just giving you an order without guideline, not verbal assault, not ignoring the fact, but distorted truth.

From my perspective / my past working experience, a leader should possess below traits:

1. A Positive mindset

2. Able to guide you through obstacles

3. Take responsibilities

4. Fight your corner

5. Showing Appreciation

6. When things happened, discuss and solve the problem tgt

7. A good listener

8. Showing Empathy

9. Motivating subordinates

10. Not taking advantage of subordinates, especially there is information asymmetry
