Today, I would like to share some tips of how to write a compelling CV.
Before you start to create your CV, think carefully the message you would like to convey to your target audience. Below are some questions for your reference:
Who will be reviewing your CV?
What details would they care about?
Why do you want to apply for this job at this company?
Are you a perfect match or at least 60% match for the role?
After configuring out the message you would like to deliver to the interviewer, you can start to tailoring your cv to the specific role (some of you may wonder if it’s necessary to tailor a cv for a job, I will share my perspective on this later).
When preparing your cv, I believe the following sections would be a MUST for all types of CVs:
1. Personal Info
2. Working Experinece
3. Education
4. Skills (especially if you have technical skills)
5. Certifications
However, there are still some optional sections which depends on the job nature / requirement
6. Portfolio
7. Awards
8. Hobbies
9. Photo
10. Summary
Creating a CV is not an easy task, it will definitley take a week or even a month to produce the best version.
My next post will continue to discuss CV writing. Stay tuned!
